Final approval won by OceanSaver
OceanSaver reveals that its ballast water management system was granted final approval from the IMO at the latest meeting of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 58) in London this month. Read more

Hurtigruten ASA sells the ferry operation
Hurtigruten ASA has entered into an agreement with Torghatten Nord AS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Torghatten Trafikkselskap ASA, regarding the sale of the ferry and fast ferry operation of Hurtigruten ASA. Read more

NBCC member Charlotte Kruse Madsen recently opened her restaurant in central London. She sets out to serve clean and modern, refined Nordic cuisine with respect to its heritage, styled after the 11 Michelin-star restaurants found in her native Denmark. Read more

Weather forces white fish prices up
FARMED salmon from Scotland and Norway seemed to be about the only popular species of fish with stable price levels this week as weather problems forced white fish prices up again. Read more

Improved safety and price transparency: these are the key features of the new Regulation on the single market for air transport which enters into force on 1 November 2008. Read more

October 2008: Business Climate Indicator for the euro area decreases further
The Business Climate Indicator (BCI) for the euro area fell to values last observed in 2001. The low level of the indicator suggests that industrial activity remains subdued. All five underlying components of the BCI declined. The decline was fairly sharp for managers' production expectations and assessment of total order books and export order books; while their view of stocks of finished products and production trend observed in recent months worsened less. Employment: Euro area unemployment stable at 7.5%
Eurostat has published a recent unemployment statistics for EU. The numbers show a slight increase from 6.9 to 7.0% from August to September. Compared to the same period last year, the unemployment has been stable. Read more

Norway’s 117 private and local government pension fund organisations have been hit by the economic crisis and many of them need more capital. Read more
