The Royal Norwegian Order of Merit awarded Douglas Brown
His Majesty King Harald of Norway has decided to give Douglas Brown The Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, Knight First Class. Douglas is the former CEO of Norske Skog and former President of NBCC (2006-2008). The award will be presented by the Ambassador at the Embassy on Thursday 19 April.

The Royal Norwegian Order of Merit was founded by King Olav V in 1985. It is conferred on foreign and Norwegian nationals as a reward for their outstanding service in the interest of Norway.

Aker Solutions has signed a frame agreement with Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited (Maersk Oil) for the supply of subsea control systems for existing and future field developments. Read more

Oil and gas investment firm Ramco Energy said Monday it has set up a wind-power consortium to enter a bid in the United Kingdom’s third offshore wind park licensing round. Read more

The European Commission has reportedly given Norwegian classification society DNV the job of honing “a process” that will “speed up, integrate, and optimise” the commercial application in Europe of carbon capture and storage, or CCS. Read more

Success story: Scene Change Creative Consultants Ltd

Last year NBCC hosted a connect-up event for us where we explored cultural differences between Norway and UK using our interactive Forum Theatre model. As a direct result of the following write up in the newsletter I was contacted by Shell earlier this year and we were then invited to do a similar event in Bergen exploring effective leadership, safety & integrity and communication using the same format.
